In Ancient History (Egypt and Near East), you’ll study the history, society, religions, material culture and languages of Ancient Egypt and the Near East. Periods range from Predynastic Egypt (c 3000 BCE) to the Near East and Late Antiquity, including the origins of Christianity and Judaism (c 600 CE). Students will learn about the events of this world, and the personalities – from pharaohs, patriarchs and prophets to the farmers and artisans on which their worlds rested. This major takes students from the rise of the Pharaohs in Egypt and the first civilizations in the Near East, through ancient Israel and the birth of Christianity, to its spread west and east into the new cultures, languages, and religions of Coptic Egypt and the Late Antique Near East. Students will gain knowledge, communication skills, and the ability to conduct confident, productive higher degree research about Egypt and the Near East.
Good knowledge of History and Egyptology.
Gaining of knowledge related to Criminal Justice and Procedure, Foundations of Law, Contracts, Law, Lawyers and Society, Torts, Jurisprudence, Property Law, Equity and Trusts, Business Organizations, International Law, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Civil and Criminal Procedure, Capstone Unit: Egypt and the Near East are the concepts included as major parts in this course.
Students of this course will have a wide range of areas including archaeology, archiving, art consulting, gallery and museum curation, government historic sites management, journalism, researching and tourism operations.
