This double degree provides students with an integrated education program in both exploration/applied geology and commerce. It provides dual qualifications in these areas and develops graduates with unique opportunities to obtain employment in resourcedevelopment and related fields involving natural resource management.The finance component explores the financial services industry.Students will gain knowledge in areas such as corporate finance and develop key understandings in investment, evaluation and the financial markets and their instruments. This course covers the broad operations of financial markets in management, locally and globally.Geology is critical to the global economy and our future well-being. The benefit of studying this double degree is the combined component of geology and corporate finance. It will support and enhance future career opportunities in geology and finance, locally and globally.

In this course the major studies includes education program in both exploration/applied geology and commerce. The major studies also include study areas in corporate finance and develop key understandings in investment, evaluation and the financial markets and their instruments. It also involves the study of broad operations of financial markets in management, locally and globally.
To be eligible to this course students need to have graduated from high school with the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), or an equivalent qualification, and gained an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) that satisfies Curtin's entry requirements. Year 12 exam result remains valid indefinitely. Scores dating back to 1992 (including the TEA out of 400 and the TES out of 510) can be converted to the current ranking, the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), with the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre ATAR calculator.The other eligibilty criteria includes:- 1) Successful completion of the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT). 2)  Successful completion of the Alternative Test for Adult Admission (prior to STAT). 3)  Successful completion of the Mature age Tertiary Entrance Examination (TEE). 4)   General Certification of Education (advanced levels). 5)  TAFE or Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications. 6) Current Division 1 General or Mental Health Nursing Registration with a State Nursing Board in Australia. 7) Successful completion of the first year of a bachelor degree course at another Australian university. 8) Successful completion of two Curtin full degree level units via extension study and English competence. 9) Successful completion of two degree level units via Open Universities Australia (OUA) and English competence. 10)Successful completion of two degree level units at an Australian university and English competence.
Graduates of the undergraduate degree in Applied Geology become eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Geological Society of Australia. This degree has been accredited by the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. Graduates also become eligible for Associate Membership of the Australian Institute of Biology and the Environment Institute of Australia. Full membership becomes possible for graduates with honours or pass degrees after three or four years of professional practice.Professional recognition will vary depending upon choice of double degree. Accounting: The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and CPA Australia recognise graduates of this award. Financial Planning: The Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) and the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) recognise graduates of this award. Finance: The Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) recognises graduates of this award. As well as international accreditation, a number of Business School programs are professionally accredited. The Business School's accounting programs undergo periodic joint accreditation reviews by CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA).
