Since World War II the aim of ‘development’ has been to ensure that Third World nations take their place in the global community and have an equal voice. But as the world has moved forward, efforts to help developing nations may have fallen short – or even done more harm than good. This major gives students the skills to analyze the intentions and results of international development initiatives and to effectively contribute for social benefit. The unique focus on culture change is a response to real demand for an understanding of development and the subjective experiences of socio-cultural change.
