The following specialization is in available Aboriginal Studies,Asian Studies Australian Studies,Chinese, Classical and Medieval Studies,Creative Writing,English ,French, German,History, Indonesian,Japanese, Philosophy (incorporating Gender Studies), Sociology Social Research.
Basic knowledge of english.
The major studies in this course are aimed to promote the students to develop a strong theoretical and practical understanding of the discipline and a strong foundation , in-depth knowledge and skills of the discipline,be able to engage critically with the discipline.
Normal admission requirement are a Bachelor of Arts degree or its equivalent from the University of Tasmania, or a University degree from another university or tertiary institution, deemed to be appropriate by the Faculty of Arts, or candidates not holding a bachelor's degree but whose employment experience indicates a level of knowledge and skill deemed by the Faculty to be sufficient to complete the course satisfactorily may be deemed eligible for admission.
Articulation to or from the course may be applicable where specialisations permit, students who have satisfactorily completed the requirements for the Graduate Diploma in Arts (Specialisation) may proceed to the Master of Arts (Specialisation). Students who complete 50% of units (including any core units) may elect to take out the Graduate Certificate.Credit may be given, at the discretion of the Faculty, for previous postgraduate or honours level study, or alternative achievements by students in other awards and professional practice areas at equivalent level.
Study in English is an excellent and adaptable preparation for careers in education, journalism and the media, public service, publishing, librarianship, information management, and many other roles, public or private, in the communications and service .
