Good management and business skills.
Gaining of knowledge and skills required to analyse financial markets, taking into account regulatory principles, risk management and the use of specialised financial instruments. Emphasis will be placed on providing internationally applicable principles of finance, and on the use of financial instruments as tools for risk management across a wide variety of situations.
Candidates for the Master of Finance shall be qualified for entry if they have completed an undergraduate degree of an Australian higher education institution or the equivalent standard in any other institution.
The credit may be given to the successful completion of postgraduate units in other courses at the University of Tasmania or another approved tertiary institution, credit is also available for some qualifications attained through professional bodies, where they have been assessed as equivalent to postgraduate study. The students should apply for credit at the time of application for admission.The progression to PhD depends upon academic performance during the course. The course is professionally recognised with accreditation from the Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
The course enables students to build careers directly in banking and finance, contributing to the professional skills of the business, government and corporate world in dealing with the assessment and management of risk and resource distribution, also skills in decision making and appropriate management of scarce resources.
