The Graduate Certificate in General Studies is designed for students who have previously graduated with an undergraduate degree or equivalent, and wish to pursue further academic studies.
General knowledge about General Studies.
The major studies aims to broaden applicants in wide spectrum of professional or personal educational interests by providing them with the opportunity to study the specific knowledge and skills at postgraduate level.
The Faculty of Business may accept as a candidate for the Graduate Certificate in General Studies any of the following a person who has completed an undergraduate degree of an Australian higher education institution OR the equivalent standard in any other institution, OR a person who has five (5) years' relevant work or community experience. International students must provide an IELTS test score or a TOEFL score, Test of Written English score. This test must not be more than 24 months old ,Interviews may be taken at discretion.
Successful completion of the postgraduate units in other courses at the University of Tasmania or another approved tertiary institution may be credited towards the degree. The credit is also available for some qualifications attained through professional bodies, where they have been assessed as equivalent to postgraduate study. The students should apply for credit at the time of application for admission. Students who have satisfactorily completed the requirements for the Graduate Certificate may proceed to other courses for which they have the necessary qualifications and prerequisites including, for example, the Graduate Diploma in Business Administration.
Graduates can seek employment in various fields such as Management, Accounting, Legal Assisting, Education and Computers, Paralegals or Legal Assistants,Lodging Managers, Budget Analysts, Computer Network Administrators.
