This course provides the opportunity for health professionals to enhance their skills and knowledge enabling them to become leaders in health services.
Good knowledge of biology.
Major studies include equipping of knowledge and skills to successfully assume a range of leadership roles in health services in a wide variety of settings. The core units provide the opportunity for participants to develop a strong theoretical and practical understanding of contemporary health services. Units explore models of health care, leadership, project management, change management, governance,legal issues.
Candidates for the Graduate Certificate in Health (Specialisation) shall be qualified for entry if they hold a three-year degree with a major in a health related area, OR have equivalent experience and/or qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Faculty.For international students who do not use English as their first language, minimum requirement is IELTS band.
The course is being designed in consultation with relevant professional bodies including the Australian College of Health Service Executives, the Royal College of Nursing Australia, the Australian College of Health Informatics, and specialist medical colleges, taking cognisance of their accreditation requirements. It is anticipated that the course will be accredited with these and other relevant professional bodies. The credit for previous studies can be given on passing in subjects or units in other courses (completed or otherwise) in this University or another approved tertiary institution (or other approved professional examining body) may be credited towards the degree, provided that the Faculty may specify what more a candidate so credited shall be required to do to qualify for the Graduate Certificate.
This program provides the opportunity for health professionals to enhance their management and leadership roles through focusing on sector-specific needs in changing model of health care delivery and health service management, particularly clinical governance and leadership and the utilisation of emerging information technology.
