Computer engineers design, build and manage computer-based systems and hardware that process information and complex systems. They often work on new computer applications such as advances in digital television and photography, virtual meeting technology, and new technologies for cars, phones, security systems, telescopes and aero planes. Completion of this major as part of the Bachelor of Engineering will prepare students for a career in computer engineering. Students can combine this major with one of the following as a major or minor of the Bachelor of Engineering: electronics, mechanical, mechatronic, software, and telecommunications engineering.
Good knowledge of Mathematics and Computer Science.
Gaining of knowledge related to Introduction to Computer Science, Fundamentals of Computer Science, Digital Fundamentals and Numerical Techniques, Mathematics, Thermodynamics, Relativity and Fields, Physics, Particles and Waves, Systems Programming, Programmable Logic Design, Circuits and Devices, Algorithms and Data Structures, Object-Oriented Programming Practices, Real-Time Computing, Cryptography and Information Security, Computer Networks, Computer Hardware, Digital Systems Design, Engineering Mathematics, Advanced Computer Engineering are the concepts included as major parts in this course.
Students are eligible to this course if they have HSC Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry.
This course is accredited by Engineers Australia.
