Contemporary Music focuses on a diverse collection of 20th- and 21st-century music, including popular, electronic, Indigenous, world and the avant-garde. It enables students to follow specialized music interests, and gain comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of music forms. Students will study creative music production and explore theoretical units such as contemporary musicology, socio-cultural contexts, avant-garde and experimental music, the music business, sound for the screen, and modern ethnomusicology. Current technology gives students cutting-edge skills for the rapidly evolving music industry.

Major study in this course includes gaining of knowledge related to Musical Creativities: Projects and Directions, Music, Sound and Moving Image.
Students of this course will have career in audio production, events management, marketing, music journalism, music, sound design and post production for broadcasting, professional musician, radio production, screen composing, studio engineering.
