This unique major focuses on the development of legal policy around social issues, including discrimination, equality, fairness, and conflict between the private and public spheres. It will explore the interplay of individual rights in societies governed by the rule of law. Students will develop the foundational skills in policy development and analysis and have the option to select from a range of sociology, cultural studies, gender studies and philosophy units. Studies in social justice will allow students to understand law in a broader context, particularly its impact on many contemporary social issues.

Graduates can work across a wide range of areas including consulting, policy advising and development, strategic campaigning and welfare advocacy.
