This course is designed to provide vocational skills and knowledge in Public Works Infrastructure Management. The course responds to the need for a program for engineering graduates employed in local government authorities (and related engineering consultancies) in the emerging discipline of infrastructure asset management. The course provides graduates with the knowledge and skills to fill senior positions in this specialist field within local government. The demand for these skills is most significant in large authorities where career opportunities exist for specialist infrastructure asset managers. The Graduate Diploma in Infrastructure Asset Management broadens the skills and practical knowledge gained in engineering and science undergraduate courses and provides specialist skills in areas including condition assessment, demand forecasting and risk management.

Applicants for the Graduate Certificate in Infrastructure Asset Management must hold an undergraduate Bachelor level degree in a pavement engineering related discipline or equivalent. A student admitted in this category must complete satisfactorily 4 units to be eligible for the award Graduate Certificate in Infrastructure Asset Management.An applicant with other relevant tertiary qualifications and relevant industry experience may be considered for entry to the Graduate Certificate in Infrastructure Asset Management. Applicants can apply directly to CPEE for admission.
The course is supported by the Institute of Public Works Engineers Australia (IPWEA) that gives professional recognition to the award. Through the foundation members of CPEE Austroads and the Australian Asphalt Pavement Association acceptance and support is widespread and of high standing. Articulation to or from the course the applicants who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Infrastructure Asset Management can apply to enter the Graduate Diploma in Infrastructure Asset Management with credit for the units completed in the Graduate Certificate.The course consists of units of study developed specifically for technical employees engaged in infrastructure asset management by professional engineers with national and international standing.
