In addition to teacher education programs, the Institute of Early Childhood offers the opportunity to study a range of subjects which can lead to a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Early Childhood Studies. A major in the understanding of children (from birth through to 12 years) enables students to work in a variety of areas including policy development, community services, and the media. The Institute of Early Childhood provides units of study which consider the development of children (including those with disabilities). Young children’s learning and experience of the arts, literacy, mathematics, science and technology is explored, as well as the management principles and skills necessary for leadership positions in children’s services.
