Mechanical engineers analyses, conceptualize, design and manufacture items from the very small (such as micro machines) to the very large (such as aircraft). Mechanical engineers are central to the production of almost every item that we use. Completion of this major as part of the Bachelor of Engineering will prepare students for a career in mechanical engineering. The degree prepares students by delivering a strong foundation in basic sciences, statics, dynamics, and mechanics of solids, thermo fluids and materials. It offers advanced options in manufacturing, novel materials, and micro-scale devices. Students can combine this major with one of the following as a major or minor of the Bachelor of Engineering: computer, electronics, mechatronic, software, and telecommunications engineering.
Good knowledge of Mathematics.
Gaining of knowledge related to Introduction to Engineering, Engineering Practice, Engineering Project Practices, Industry Experience, Engineering Research Thesis, Systems Design and Engineering, Engineering Principles and Practice, Introduction to Computer Science, Electro mechanics, Digital Fundamentals and Numerical Techniques, Mathematics, Thermodynamics, Relativity and Fields, Physics, Particles and Waves, Engineering Dynamics, Thermodynamics and Fluids, Mechanical Design, Mechanics of Solids, Materials, Introduction to Mechatronics, Fluid Mechanics, Thermal Engineering, Advanced Mechanical Engineering are the concepts included as major parts in this course.
Macquarie University will be applying for accreditation for this new major in due course in accordance with Engineers Australia’s requirements. Programs accredited by Engineers Australia are recognized internationally.
Students of this course will have career as an application engineer, automation and industrial instrumentation specialist, engineering and technical manager, engineering project manager, mechanical design engineer, mechanical engineer, mechanical project engineer, micro mechanical engineer, project and technology manager.
