In this course emphasis will be placed on providing specialist knowledge in international business in a timely manner while taking account of existing tertiary qualifications. Graduate studies have an important place in management development. This course helps to develop competencies relevant as a manager in the area of international business. International business is a term used rarely to describe all commercial transactions (private and governmental, sales, investments, logistics, and transportation) that take place between two or more regions, countries and nations beyond their political boundary.

The major focus of thestudy is to provide determination and assessment of 'best practice' approaches to management in the international business context, informed by the application of appropriate and sound theoretical foundations drawn from a variety of interdisciplinary sources.
The Faculty of Business may accept as a candidate for the Master of International Business a person who has completed an undergraduate degree of an Australian higher education institution or the equivalent standard in any other institution OR a person who has satisfactorily completed the Graduate Certificate of International Business of the University of Tasmania or an equivalent award of another Australian higher education institution. For entry into all postgraduate courses, international students must provide an IELTS test score or a TOEFL score, a Test of Written English score.This test must not be more than 24 months old.
The graduates of the Graduate Certificate of International Business may receive full credit to the Master of International Business (Specialisation). After the successful completion of the course the graduates are eligible for associate membership of the Australian Marketing Institute and the Australian Market and Social Research Society.
Upon the successful completion of the course, participants will be equipped with the skills and knowledge that lead to more senior managerial, policy and strategic management levels, and research positions.
