The School of Government have designed the programs as a professional development tool for those involved or interested in International Politics.International politics is a realm of knowledge in Political Science which focuses the relationship between countries, their foreign relations and affairs.International Politics is taught in most mainsream Colleges and Universities.
General knowledge about International Politics in modern context.
The major studies aims to provide students with a thorough grounding in analytical theory and practice, broader knowledge of recent developments in the field and skills to appraise research critically,extended skills to design, conduct and appraise research in this field.
Students are normally expected to have a minimum of a bachelor degree from the University of Tasmania or from another university or tertiary institution which is deemed equivalent, and a level of English equivalent score of an IELTS test. In exceptional circumstances the Faculty may admit a person with some other tertiary qualification and relevant employment experience.Students seeking entry into postgraduate courses based on employment experience only (i.e. no bachelor degree), will generally only be allowed entry at Graduate Certificate level.Progression from Graduate Diploma to Masters requires results of Distinction average.Direct entry at Masters level will be allowed if the student has achieved results of Distinction average at undergraduate level.International students who do not meet the requirements for direct entry at Masters level can obtain direct entry at Graduate Diploma level and package this with an offer for entry to Masters subject to achieving distinction average at Graduate Diploma level (if they meet the entry requirement for the Graduate Diploma).
The Students may apply for credit for units passed in other courses (complete or incomplete).Articulation to or from the course the students who undertake the GradCertIntPol may elect to complete an additional 50% of coursework units and achieve the Graduate Diploma in International Politics. Students who take the additional coursework units plus the Research Thesis unit are eligible to graduate with a Master of International Politics.
The course is aimed to assist career advancement for a range of professions including Diplomats, Journalists, International Business Executives, and International Organisation Personnel in International Politics.
