Deakin's Bachelor of Information Technology (IT Security) will provide students with a sound knowledge and understanding of general issues, concepts and practices in IT, particularly in the area of IT security. Students will learn in a leading-edge study environment, and graduate as a qualified IT professional who is eminently employable. Students will gain practical and theoretical knowledge in this critical aspect of IT with an emphasis on understanding and assessing the need for IT security in a working environment, knowledge of the security solutions available – what they are and how they work – and understanding the business, ethical and legal implications of risk management. There is also an emphasis on analysis, investigation, problem-solving, development and technical skills related to IT security.

Gaining of knowledge related to Fundamentals of Information Technology, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Discrete Mathematics, Safety Induction Program, Introduction to Database Design, Introduction to Web Development, Introduction to Computer Security, Information Technology Professional Skills, Computer Crime and Digital Forensics, Computer Networks, Cryptography, It Security Management, Project Management, Corporate Computer and Network Security, Public-Key Cryptography, Project, System Security are the concepts included as major parts in this course.
This course is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
Students of this course will work as a security analyst, project manager, security system manager, cryptographer, consultant, security system developer or programmer, information security auditor, business continuity or IT security engineer.
