Australia's political, economic and social ties with Asia have expanded rapidly in recent years, providing excellent career opportunities for graduates with an in-depth understanding of this unique business environment. Griffith's expertise in Asian studies is world-renowned. This was the first Australian university to offer undergraduate Asian studies and is home to the Griffith Asia Institute, giving access to more than 40 experts in the field. This degree focuses on the countries of East and South-East Asia and will broaden student’s outlook and will equip students for a range of stimulating career options within the wider region. This degree provides the opportunity to study an Asian language (Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian or Korean), plus an optional minor. Griffith's exchange program provides students with the opportunity to live and study in a country. As a student of the Bachelor of Asian Studies, Students may be selected to participate in a university exchange in Japan, Indonesia, China, Korea, or Vietnam. Griffith University provides generous scholarships to assist and encourage students to undertake exchange programs.

Major studies include understanding of the social and business dynamics of the region. Students will be encouraged to develop career and research skills. With much of the world’s social and economic growth occurring in Asia, this course will give insights into Asian culture, society, religion, history, politics, environment, communication and business organisations, which are relevant to future careers.
Equipped with an in-depth understanding of Asia's political, economic, and cultural environment, along with high level skills in language, communication, research, and critical analysis, Students will be well prepared for a wide variety of rewarding careers in government, business, travel and tourism, education, international agencies, training, and export consultancy, in Australia and internationally. Graduates get opportunity to work in foreign affairs, foreign trade, country risk analysis, business consultancy, defense, security agencies, and media in organizations including BHP, Rio Tinto, Austrade, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0, a minimum score of 575 on TOEFL,an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 88 (no score less than 21).
