The course is not in offer in 2013.The course objectives are to provide the each graduate with the core skills to enter the industry and to work independently, and, where appropriate, a specialised knowledge within the broader field of journalism, media and communications is imparted.

Major studies include development of core media ,practical and analytical skills to specialise within the field of journalism, media and communications. The program offers a selection of 'base' units, each of which is designed to allow students - in consultation with teaching staff - to focus on a specific area within the broader field, such as environmental and science communications, sports media, print, broadcast and convergent journalism, or public relations.
Direct entry to the Masters program will be granted to students with a Bachelor degree with a distinction average and a level of English equivalent to a score of an IELTS test, students with a Bachelor degree without a distinction average will be admitted to the Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate, students seeking entry into postgraduate courses based on employment experience only (i.e. no bachelor degree) can be admitted to the Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate, progression from the Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate to Masters requires results of Credit average. International students who do not meet the requirements for direct entry at the Masters level can obtain direct entry at Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate level and package this with an offer for entry to Masters subject to achieving a credit average at Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate level. International students seeking admission at the Graduate Diploma level must still demonstrate a level of English on an IELTS test.
The Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) is the only national journalists' professional association in Australia, where the graduates can get membership pertaining to the set rules.
The students can gain career in wide spectrum for working in journalism, media and communications industries, including in print or broadcast news, online journalism, public relations, environmental and science communications, sports media, corporate or government communications.
