In this course students will study how to provide a balance between the ability to specialize, which is important for those who have chosen a discipline, and the ability to delay choosing, for those who have not yet decided. Studies include civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronic and Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering Electronic and Computer Engineering, Electronic and Energy Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Microelectronic Engineering Software Engineering.
Good technical skills.
In this course major studies include gaining of knowledge related to core engineering subjects such as mathematics and physics.
The Bachelor of Engineering with Advanced Studies is accredited by Engineers Australia.
Graduates are employed in many areas of both the public and private sectors including local and state government departments and small to large multinational consulting firms. Potential careers include: service industries such as Telstra, Optus and electricity authorities such as Pacific Power and Energy Australia, large private industrial groups such as Ericson, Boeing Australia, IBM, and Alcatel, small innovative private firms specializing in the application of new technologies to new products and services, in a range of areas such as telecommunications and wireless electronics, internet services and biomedical instrumentation. Electronic and Computer Engineering degree allows students to study from a range of areas including communications and computing related areas. Graduates find employment with both large international companies and smaller firms requiring engineers in the electronics area. This work may be in a research area or in a development and manufacturing environment. The degree has a strong practical focus which develops skills sought after by industry. Graduates from this program may obtaining employment in government departments such as Main Roads, Natural Resources and Mines, and the Environmental Protection Agency, with consultancy engineers and in the mining, oil, smelting and manufacturing industries; as well as research organizations. Mechanical engineering is the most diverse of all the engineering disciplines. As a result, graduates work in a range of industries including design, research and development and production. Mechanical engineers are currently working on the development of cutting edge technologies in (amongst others), the medical, automotive, mining, renewable energy, sports, marine and aerospace sectors. Career opportunities are to be found with companies that design and manufacture consumer machines such as washing machines and motor vehicles, companies which design, manufacture and install specialized industrial machines for agriculture, mining and manufacturing, companies whose primary interests relate to mechanical or electrical or computer engineering; and small to medium high technology companies involving automation. Software engineering entails the design and implementation of the software systems on which our society depends from building to biotechnology, games to government, and sports to submarines. Students will also receive an introduction to software development and program construction, supported by mathematics, computer systems, engineering principles and information systems. After pursuing this degree students will have an understanding of the theoretical foundations of software engineering and their application to the specification, design, implementation, verification, maintenance and documentation of large-scale software systems. Student’s potential careers include sports engineer in sporting institutes, academies, clubs and associations, biomedical engineer in hospitals and medical research centers or specialist engineering in prosthetic industry, health care, aged care, injury performance, gait and fatigue analysis, rehabilitation or medical equipment design. This degree provides graduates to fill an ever increasing need for engineers to work the energy sector. Students will graduate with strong employment prospects in areas such as electronics design and fabrication, power transmission, renewable power generation, solar energy systems, wind energy systems, electric vehicles, efficient lighting and energy research etc. This area of using high technology in the energy area is attracting enormous amounts of funding around the globe, which therefore is creating excellent employment prospects.
