The Master of Dental Technology enables students to apply for registration with the Dental Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Dental Prosthetist. Dental Prosthetics are dental technicians with a special qualification that enables them to work independently with clinical patients. It will enable the practitioner to diagnose and provide treatment for removable dental prosthesis. They work in an integrated environment within the other professions in dentistry. This program will train future Dental Prosthetics to be competent in all areas of removable dental prosthetics and significantly contribute to the future of the dental profession.
Good knowledge of biology.
The major studies focuses on gaining of knowledge in oral biosciences and biomedical foundations in oral health. This course emphasizes the importance of prevention as a goal and introduces clinical practice. Development of the knowledge and clinical skills needed for the care of individual patients. Exploring the principles and philosophies underlying health promotion for individuals and the community are also involved as major concept of study.
The Master of Dental Technology in Prosthetics is accredited by the Australian Dental Council in affiliation with the Dental Board of Australia.
Students will have knowledge of the relevant biomedical and oral health sciences and will have developed sufficient clinical skills to apply for registration as a dental prosthetics or clinical dental technician in Australia and New Zealand.
