In this course students will gain the fundamental knowledge, specialized skills and experimental experience to equip students for a variety of challenging careers in the expanding areas of photonics and nano science. Photonics deals with the generation, manipulation, transport and detection of light, and has many applications in the communications industry. Nano science underpins the technology of creating materials, devices and systems through the control of matter at the atomic level.
Good knowledge of chemistry and nano materials.
Detailed study of nano science and photonics. Photonics deals with light - its generation, manipulation, transport, and detection - and has applications in the communications industry. Gaining of skills related to chemistry, physics, mathematics, nanoscience, and electronics form the foundation year. Development of theoretical, practical and problem-solving skills for photonics and nanoscience through specialised study in the areas of physical science, chemical science and biological nanoscience.
The Bachelor of Photonics and Nano science with Honors is accredited by the Australian Institute of Physics.
As an honors degree graduate, Student’s skill level will make highly attractive to employers in the rapidly expanding knowledge economy, where there are many exciting job opportunities in photonics and technology-based companies.
