This one-year, full-time course offers selected students the opportunity to study aspects of their undergraduate major in depth. Specializations under the Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) include accounting, business law and taxation, econometrics, economics, economics and econometrics, finance, finance and econometrics, management and marketing.

Major studies include Accounting principles, Auditing ,taxation ,relevant areas of business law,financial management. Students can also examine the development and communication of information relating to the financial performance of organisations, learn to prepare reports and give advice on an organisation's record-keeping and compliance requirements.
To be eligible to this course applicants must have completed a bachelor degree, with a major in the related discipline offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics or an equivalent program from another university; and normally have achieved an average equivalent to at least 70 per cent in relevant second and third-year units. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they possess the motivation and academic skills required to complete successfully a program that comprises research training; research; and specific discipline units that cover topics in advanced theory. These skills include the ability to understand and discuss articles published in learned journals; to compose a high quality 18,000 word research paper.
Up on completion of this degree students get accreditation by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA).
Honors graduates have special expertise valued by employers and therefore have a competitive advantage in the job market. The honors year also prepares students to undertake higher degrees by research MPhil, PhD.
First Semester (March)
IELTS 6.5 no band lower than 6.0, TOEFL 550 with a TWE of 4.5 or an internet-based TEOFL score of at least 79 with 21 in writing, 18 in speaking, 13 in reading and 12 in listening.
