Good accounting is essential to the success of any organisation - as not only does it help us to manage financial positions and maintain cash flow - but it also plays a key part in helping determine where to go into the future as part of our strategic planning process. This course helps student to learn how businesses really work and what it takes to make a successful organization by examining the efficiency and effectiveness of operations through to how to evaluate employee performance. Student will also learn how to use accounting to assist student to make crucial capital investment decisions for purposes including the acquisition or sale of shares, lending of money and provision of goods on credit.
Basic knowledge of accounts .
In this course major studies include development of skills in data handling and quantitative techniques, thinking and problem-solving which are related to accountancy.
Students may need to complete one prerequisite unit depending on their background in chemistry and their final scaled score in TEE Chemistry or Chemistry 3A/3B within the past three years. TEE Chemistry or Chemistry 3A/3B with a final scaled score of 60 percent or more OR PEC140 - Introduction to Chemistry -- 3 pts .Murdoch: S1-internal, S1-external, S2-internal, S2-external, Students who have completed previous chemistry not stated above should consult the Academic Chair for clarification of their enrolment requirements.
After completing this course, students will gain professional recognition by CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).
As a Murdoch Accounting graduate, Student’s employment outlook is promising, especially if student combines Accounting studies with other disciplines. Depending on which skill combinations or specializations student have , Murdoch degree may lead towards work and study opportunities in a number of areas. The job opportunities for students are as follows:-Sales Manager, Credit Manager, Financial Planner / Financial Consultant. Some specialise in areas such as retirement and estate planning or risk management.
