This course addresses the needs of students in Australia and developing countries to develop skills in public administration and the international political system. It focuses on major issues facing public sector organizations.The significant developments in public administration and public management in Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, USA, New Zealand and the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) aims to develop an understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of public administration in the international context.This course provides students with a detailed understanding of contemporary developments in policy development, program analysis and management internationally areas which have been the focus of public sector reform around the globe.
General knowledge about Public Administration on an International forefront.
The Graduate Diploma in Public Administration (International) aims to develop high-level, advanced skills in international public administration for mid-career professionals.The students will be equipped with a detailed understanding of contemporary developments in policy development, program analysis and management,these areas have been to focus of public sector reform around the globe. The students will also increase their skills in public administration, with a particular focus on program and policy management.
Students are normally expected to have a minimum of a bachelor degree from the University of Tasmania or from another university or tertiary institution which is deemed equivalent, and a level of English equivalent to a score of 6.0 on an IELTS test. In exceptional circumstances the Faculty may admit a person with some other tertiary qualification and relevant employment experience.Students seeking entry into postgraduate courses based on employment experience only (i.e. no bachelor degree), will generally only be allowed entry at Graduate Certificate level Progression from Graduate Diploma to Masters requires results of Distinction average.Direct entry at Masters level will generally only be allowed if the student has achieved results of Distinction average at undergraduate level. International students who do not meet the requirements for direct entry at Masters level can obtain direct entry at Graduate Diploma level and package this with an offer for entry to Masters subject to achieving distinction average at Graduate Diploma level (if they meet the entry requirement for the Graduate Diploma).The initial enrolment will be in a Graduate Diploma and progression to Masters will only be allowed if students achieve a Distinction average at Graduate Diploma level.
Articulation to or from the course the students who undertake the GradDipPubAdmin (Int) may elect to complete an additional 25% coursework unit plus the Research Project and achieve the Master of Public Administration (International). Students who terminate their studies after completing 50% of the coursework units are eligible to achieve the Graduate Certificate in Public Administration (International).The students may apply for credit for units passed in other courses (complete or incomplete). This course is accredited by the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA).
The program will increase graduates skills in public administration with a particular focus on program and policy management. It will equip graduates with the skills and knowledge which can lead to senior managerial, policy or research positions, senior managers or middle level managers within government and non government agencies, domestically or internationally.
