Renewable energy systems and the reliability of power systems have become an increasing concern for power systems utilities. As a consequence, in the recent years, there has been a strong demand for qualified power system engineers who can handle the new challenges in power systems. This program is designed to accelerate development and understanding of renewable energy and power system engineering. It will provide participants with the skills and state of the art technology to meet industry competencies.
Today transitioning to a low carbon economy while addressing community concern regarding energy sustainability, security and price demands high quality engineering solutions are in demand,so for the better future of the world this course is introduced.
The Graduate Certificate in Renewable Energy and Power Systems is designed to meet the needs of the engineers who have prior knowledge or some experience on distribution, transmission and generating utilities and are seeking to improve their knowledge or accelerate their experience. The key objectives of the course are to provide coverage of power system generation, transmission and distribution, with the essential methods for power system analyses and modelling; to enable participants to understand the design, planning, and operation of power systems; providing an understanding of the conventional and sustainable energy resources and their operation and control methods; and to provide participants with knowledge and skills needed for continued learning and education in the power systems and renewable energy fields, hence meeting the indusrial competency.
The standard admission requirement is a bachelor degree in electrical engineering or a degree or other tertiary qualifications deemed by the Faculty to be equivalent. Students without the stated prerequisites but who have relevant professional experience and/or training approved by the Associate Dean (T&L) and the course coordinator, may apply.
The students can aquire membership of Institution Of Engineers Australia (IEAUST) which is the national forum for the advancement of engineering and professional development, and of Australian Power Institute( API) which is positioned as a vibrant, nationally respected organisation by industry, universities and government, to deliver a Sustainable Supply of highly Skilled Power Engineering Professionals working effectively to meet the challenges.
With the recent scale of growth in power system industry, there has been a substantial employer demand for people with education and training in power systems and renewable energy integration. Manufacturing industries, mining sectors and power generation, transmission and distribution companies are among the employers continually seeking skillful power system Engineers. Beyond this the Engineering Degree, Graduate Diploma in Renewable Energy and Power Systems, will be looked upon as an additional qualification for better career path in future.
