THE COURSE NOT OFFERED IN 2013.This Masters program integrates social work theory and practice into a course that will enhance the knowledge and practice of social workers across all levels.This course is available for students contininuing thorugh from their undergraduate degree in Social Work (or eqivalent), experienced social workers, or practitioners wishing to upgrade their skills and knowledge.
General assumption of Social Work and its prime position in human life.
The Master of Social Work {Advanced Practice} enables field practitioners in a variety of human service agencies to enhance their knowledge and practice at an advanced level. The course is intended to provide social work practitioners with an innovative model for reflective practice and to increase competence in a range of social work fields and methods. The importance of locating social work practice in the political and organizational context will be emphasized.
In order to be eligible for entry to the course candidates must have qualified at least for completion of the Bachelor of Social Work pass degree at the University of Tasmania or at a recognised tertiary education institution.On application and in special circumstances Faculty may exempt a candidate from part of the formal coursework required for the degree on the grounds that equivalent postgraduate coursework has been completed in a recognised tertiary education institution.
Articulation to or from the course can be awarded on application and in special circumstances Faculty may exempt a candidate from part of the formal coursework required for the degree on the grounds that equivalent postgraduate coursework has been completed in a recognised tertiary education institution.Under the general Provisions the Faculty may terminate a candidature at any time on the grounds of unsatisfactory performance but candidates will be given the opportunity to have a review of their circumstances. A candidate may be permitted to repeat any failed or incomplete unit(/s). This course is accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
