A Master of Education research degree enables a candidate to undertake a program of research and advanced study in a specialist field .The campus of study will vary depending on the location of the candidate, the supervisor and the research field.All candidates for a Masters degree are also required to enrol concurrently in two units in the Graduate Certificate of Research.

The major studies incorporated in this course are based on the main focus to foster the technical and diciplinary approach towards the education system in various fields such as higher education, health educations etc.
Applicants should apply after finding a potential supervisor and discussing and agreeing on their proposed topic. Applicants will be considered who have an honours degree with at least second class lower standard; or a masters degree with a research component resulting in an externally examined dissertation of approximately 12000-15000 words; or substantial demonstrated sector experience, previous higher education studies and professional experience and/or published research work. International applicants must also meet the University's English language requirements for admission are an IELTS overall score, a minimum total score together with a Test of Written English on the paper based TOEFL, a minimum total score of the internet based TOEFL,PTE Academic 58 with no score lower than 50, completion of a course of study, of at least 2 yrs duration, from an accredited University in a country where English is an official language.The study must have been instructed and examined in English. Studies must have been completed within the last 2 yrs and evidence in the form of a letter or certificate issued by the university Registrar’s office will need to be provided.
The course is accredited by the Australian Education International (AEI).
A Master of Education degree is an entry path to a PhD at UTAS. Graduates are also highly valued for positions in the education sector on the major selected, including a diverse range of educational, policymaking, campaign organising and leadership roles such as community and health education, e-learning, higher education, human resource development, indigenous development, membership-based organisations, non-government, organisational learning and development, religious education, social movement and vocational education and training.
