Course Description
The course is designed to support advanced studies in instrumental/vocal performance, composition and music technology. Primary concentration will be given to the development of high level technical and music skills within the specialist area.

Major Studies
The Master of Music course is designed and based on the prime factors to promote the skills and knowledge required for the graduates such as to develop advanced skills as performers and/or composers,acquire increased skills in their particular selected area,to develop a comprehensive understanding of a wide range of repertoire and concepts, and to acquire research and communication skills commensurate with postgraduate study.
Eligibility Criteria
Admission to the Master of Music (coursework) is by application and audition. Performers are expected to prepare at least 30--40 mins of music that demonstrates their musical skills. Composers are to submit a folio of recent work either as scores, sound recording, video or a combination of these.
Professional Accreditation
Students completing the Bachelor of Music with Honours may receive full credit for units completed in that program into the Master of Music. Students who have completed some units in, or graduated with, the Graduate Diploma of Music (Specialisation) may apply for entry to the Master of Music and may receive credit for GradDipMus (Specialisation) units completed, as listed in the schedule and meeting requirements for the degree of Master of Music. Some credit may be available to students who have completed some units in or graduated with the Graduate Diploma of Professional Music Practice.The course is accredited by the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA).
Career Prospectus
Graduates of the Master of Music are engaged at all levels of the music profession, both in Australia and overseas. They enjoy successful careers as Performers, Teachers and Administrators, or may be involved in Broadcasting, Journalism or as Music Critics.
