This course is based on the guidelines of Master of Maritime Engineering (Specialisaton).The Graduate Certificate in Maritime Engingeering (Specialisation) degree program is designed to provide engineering graduates, with in depth exposure to a wide range of subjects relevant to the development and procurement of maritime engineering systems. The program aims at engineering professionals already in the workforce with limited exposure to the maritime engineering sector and who wish to continue working while studying to gain a relevant professional qualification.The course has been specifically designed to provide a flexible learning approach though interactive online study. In addition, some units are also available for on campus study.Individual units will also be available to professionals who may not wish to enrol in the program but who may wish to develop expertise in a particular area for professional development purposes.
General knowledge about Maritime Engineering and its global importance in Marine environment.
The course will provide the opportunity for engineering graduates to gain an in-depth exposure to a range of subjects relevant to the development, procurement and through-life support of marine engineering plant. The degree will prepare students for making high level independent judgements in areas of planning, design, operational, technical and management functions in a maritime engineering context. Students will acquire an in-depth understanding of a topic and related research skills through a research project that is undertaken in a chosen field of specialist study. The fields of study encompassed through two major specialisations and electives are:Technology Management which focuses on the knowledge required to develop a career in technical management across a broad range of maritime sectors.Naval Engineering which focuses on the knowledge necessary to work in maritime sectors and develop a career in areas of technical design and the systems engineering of civil and naval projects.
Achieved a pass or higher level in a Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent
Articulation to or from the course the entry is awarded to the course by a Bachelor of Engineering.The successful completion of the course can articulate to the Doctor of Philosophy. This course is accredited by Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).
The Graduate Certificate in Maritime Engingeering (Specialisation) degree is targeted at engineering professionals already in the workforce, who wish to pursue, or develop a career in the technical management of maritime engineering projects.
