General knowledge about Business Administration in Health Management.

The aim of the course is to provide participants with the skills required to further their business knowledge and for managing and leading within the health sector. Depending on the elective schedule chosen, students may gain the opportunity to integrate work and learning through a work placement program; expand their knowledge of the health sector through their choice of electives; gain the opportunity to develop their research skills and upon successful completion undertake a DBA.

The Faculty of Business may accept a person who has completed an undergraduate degree of an Australian Higher education institution or the equivalent standard in any other institution and has had at least two years' appropriate work experience; OR has successfully completed the Graduate Certificate of Management of the University of Tasmania or an equivalent award of another Australian higher education institution. For International students English Language requirement is of an IELTS score.The successful completion of units in other courses at the University of Tasmania or another approved tertiary institution may be credited towards the degree.

This course is accredited by the Australian College of Health Service Executives and the Royal Australian College of Medical Administrators.

The Medical and health services managers, also called healthcare executives or healthcare administrators, plan, direct, and coordinate medical and health services. They might manage an entire facility, specialize in managing a specific clinical area or department, or manage a medical practice for a group of physicians they may work as Nursing home administrators, Clinical managers Health information managers Assistant administrators.
