The Graduate Diploma of E-Health is offered by the University Department of Rural Health externally, using online teaching and learning technologies, over a minimum completion time of 2 years part time (over four semesters), and a maximum 4 years part time.
General knowledge about Health Informatics.
The major objective of this program is development of skills related to modern health IT, including heath data collection, processing, and storage. Major studies primarily focuses on electronic medical data generated and stored in health care and public health organizations. Individuals who complete the Health Informatics certificate program will have a solid knowledge of health information technology and systems and electronic health records as well as a solid exposure to the latest medical technologies.
The course is suitable for health professionals who wish to enhance their understanding and ability to work effectively with information and communication technologies. The course is also designed for graduates who wish to pursue a career as a health informatics specialist.In order to qualify for admission to the Certificate or the Diploma courses, applicants should hold a three-year degree or a diploma with a major in a health related or communications technology area, OR have experience and/or qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Director of the UDRH.As all units in the course use online resources, students need to have regular access to email and the internet. A computer with the following minimum computer configuration is recommended.
Up on completion of the postgraduate program students may be eligible to undertake a Masters of E-Health (Health Informatics) program.The program does not articulate with any other program within the University. This course is accredited by the Australasian College of Health Service Managers (ACHSM).
