The School of Nursing and Midwifery aims to create an educational environment which values critical reflective thinking, life-long learning and professional development. The course focuses on a high level of conceptualisation within the discipline of nursing, preparing graduates who can contribute to knowledge and practice development within their own chosen clinical specialty.
General knowledge about Clinical Nursing and its global importance.
Development of nursing knowledge and skills, leadership skills in Nursing, advanced skills in clinical supervision, teaching and mentorship, and increase understanding of the complex issues in nursing practice.The course aims to prepare students with the knowledge, career skills and personal attributes for employment in specialty areas of nursing at an advanced level.
To be eligible to this course an applicant must be a registered nurse in Australia, or if an overseas applicant, have had his/her nursing qualifications assessed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and be eligible for registration in Australia, and normally have had at least two years of full-time experience in relevant nursing practice within the last two years (or equivalent), hold an undergraduate degree in nursing with a grade point average of at least a credit (or equivalent) or have qualifications or experience deemed to be the equivalent of one of the above. The Master of Clinical Nursing is a three-year (i.e. six semester) part-time course of which two semesters are made up of the Graduate Certificate in Nursing (level 1) and two semesters are made up of the Graduate Diploma of Nursing (level 2). Applicants entering at the third level of the program i.e. directly into the two Master's level units, must have completed a Graduate Diploma or equivalent.
The Master of Clinical Nursing articulates with the Graduate Certificate and Diploma of Nursing. This course is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC).
The graduates may seek employment in Government or Private Health Care and Education Facilities in Clinical Nursing and Research.The areas of specialisation available are:Aged Care,Anaesthetics,Cardiac Care,Cardiothoracics,Child and Adolescent Health,Dementia Care,Emergency,Intensiveb Care,Interventional Cardiology,Justice Health ,Medical,Neonatal Care, Neurosciences, Oncology,Ophthalmology,Orthopaedics,Palliative,Care,Perioperative,Plastics/Orthopaedics,Plastics/reconstructionRehabilitation,Renal,Surgical,Urology.
