UTAS and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) have a partnership that recognises the importance of management and leadership skills in the delivery of patient/client-centred health and human services care. UTAS has developed an education program to support the Department's workforce and to equip staff with the skills required to further their knowledge in management and leadership within the health sector.

The course aims to encourage the students to equip health and human services professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully assume a range of leadership roles in health services in a wide variety of settings; to equip health and human services professionals with the ability to recognise the need for and implement new organisational improvement projects and to capitalise an opportunities for health and human services improvement projects.
An undergraduate degree of an Australian higher education institution or the equivalent standard in any other institution or equivalent experience and/or qualifications, as approved by the Dean.
The Graduate Certificate in Health and Human Services is of four-semester, part-time course which articulates with a six-semester Master Health and Human Services. This course is accredited by the Australian and New Zealand Podiatry Accreditation Council (ANZPAC).
This qualification is to enhance the professional skills of employees of the the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
