The course is designed to develop students' ability to solve problems, both within and outside the marine scientific community, and to learn independently. As graduates, students will be able to adapt and contribute to technological advances and be able to use their scientific knowledge to effectively manage the use of marine resources. This course is block taught plus distance offered.
The normal admission prerequisite is an undergraduate degree with a major (or the equivalent thereof) directly related to the marine environment.
This course is accredited by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).
After graduating, students can take up career opportunities in the government agencies that manage coastal and marine resources and environments and also in consulting companies that seek coastal and marine specialists.
