Completion of the Graduate Certificate is required before enrolment in the Graduate Diploma.An applicant with other relevant tertiary qualifications and relevant industry experience may be considered for entry to the Graduate Diploma in Road Engineering and Construction.English language requirements can be satisfied if international applicants provide documentary evidence of one of the following, First language is English and secondary and/or undergraduate studies were conducted in English. A certified copy of the applicant's studies record clearly indicating that English was the language of instruction must be supplied; A score of the American Test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL) plus Test of Written English (TWE), An overall band score of IELTS test conducted by a British Council/IDP Office.

The course is supported by the Institute of Public Works Engineers Australia (IPWEA) which is also expected to give professional recognition to the awards. The foundation members of CPEE (Austroads and the Australian Asphalt Pavement Association) hold CPEE programs in high regard and acceptance and support are widespread.

Roads and pavements form a large component of the national investment in infrastructure, and there is increasing appreciation of the need for efficient design and construction to minimize the long-term lifecycle costs, including operation, maintenance, management and renewal of these major physical assets. This will add to the demand for technical specialists with road engineering skills, and career opportunities exist with State governments, larger local authorities, private civil and mining companies, contracting, consulting and regulatory organizations.
