This course will help to improve career prospects in current accounting role or prepare for further studies by completing compulsory specialist courses at Diploma and Advanced Diploma level. If student has been successfully completed the Certificate IV in Accounting, Then student can meet the minimum educational requirements for registered tax agent and BAS services set by the Tax Practitioners Board.

In this course learning areas include basic accounting skills, managing a small office, financial reporting, advanced bookkeeping, management reporting, job costing, manual and computer accounts systems (MYOB software) and budget preparation and management.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 50%. For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page. Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary Diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
Certificate IV or Diploma graduates can apply for Student Membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians. As an enrolled student of the Advanced Diploma, Student can apply for Student Membership of the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). Advanced Diploma graduates qualify for admission as an Associate of the Institute of Public Accountants (AIPA).
Graduates find work in all fields of industry and commerce like financial institutions, retail stores and other businesses.Theyre employed in accounting, accounting-support or accounting technician roles and take responsibility for recording and compiling summaries of financial transactions for management. Advanced Diploma graduates can become a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) with further study. Accountants are either employed by commercial and industrial enterprises or in public accounting firms. Public accountants are often self-employed or work in partnership with other accountants.
