In the right hands, a shoe can be a work of art. And if shoes are the art you want to create, the Certificate IV in Custom Made Footwear will get off on the right foot. Students will learn a range of skills to forge a path in the footwear industry and develop technical and practical skills to produce high-level custom made footwear. Study of custom made footwear focuses on design, patterns, manufacturing and the presentation of finished design ideas. Domestic students can take this program as a traineeship. In this course major studies include development of range of skills to forge a path in the footwear industry and develop technical and practical skills to produce high-level custom made footwear.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 50%. For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page. Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary Diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
Graduates find work in the footwear industry as: designers and product developers, production/quality controllers, supply chain managers, technical officers for footwear and accessory companies. Some graduates own and operate their own footwear design businesses.
1 year full time.International student visa holders can only study full-time.
