As a student of exceptional talent, the combined Bachelor of Arts (Advanced) (honors) and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree allows students to realize academic interests in both the humanities and social sciences and the study of medicine. Students will also meet medical prerequisite requirements during first three years of study. Satisfactory completion of all requirements for the Bachelor of Arts (Advanced) (Honours) will provide exemption from the GAMSAT and immediate admission to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in your fourth year. This course offers clinical experience at leading hospitals, research opportunities at world-leading institutes, and established elective placements throughout Europe, Africa, North America and Asia.
It is recommended that students choose units of study from a subject area with which they have some familiarity, however most subject areas assume no previous knowledge.
In this course major studies include, the combined study of Bachelor of Arts (Advanced) (Honours) and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree as well as it also includes the study of both the humanities and social sciences and the study of medicine. The major studies also include medical prerequisite requirements during first three years of study. Satisfactory completion of all requirements for the Bachelor of Arts (Advanced) (Honours) will provide exemption from the GAMSAT and immediate admission to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in your fourth year.
Students are eligible to apply for the Combined Medicine Degree Programs at the first opportunity after graduating high school, regardless of when their results are available. 
Sydney Arts students are encouraged to become members of professional associations concerned with their areas of study. Association membership for students is often heavily discounted and may provide: opportunities for networking; conferences on topical issues providing local and international perspectives, research on areas of practice, quality and innovation, interest groups in specific areas of industry, regular journals and other publications, access to current salary information based on surveys conducted by the association, advice on workplace agreements, events offering professional development and ongoing learning, scholarships, awards and prizes,further study (including short courses, professional accreditation programs, or postgraduate qualifications). The Sydney Medical Program is recognised in the World Health Organization Directory of Medical Schools and, subject to further country-specific requirements, graduates are eligible for registration in most countries. At home, graduates become eligible for registration with the Australian Medical Board and the Medical Council of New Zealand.
The Bachelor of Arts (Advanced) (Honours) offers a range of subject areas that prepare graduates for careers in administration, education, business research, marketing, media, management consultancy, public relations, gallery and museum curatorship, hospitality and tourism, community and welfare. Our graduates become proficient in research and inquiry, and demonstrate personal and intellectual autonomy, and ethical, social and professional understanding, qualities sought after by leading employers all over the world. Following completion of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, one year of internship is required prior to registration. Most junior doctors make their career choice during their second postgraduate year, Australia is in special need of doctors for rural and remote practice, including indigenous health care. Other careers for Sydney graduates include medical research, teaching, medical administration, medical communication or journalism, consulting and overseas aid work.
