This program offers student to gain practical experience with computer hardware and software applications, allowing to gain work installing, maintaining and administering large computer networks and infrastructure. Computer systems engineers work with personal computers (PCs) and computer networks as technical officers, service supervisors and in other similar roles.

In this course the major studies include the development of practical skills related to computer and software applications.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 50%. For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page. Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary Diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
On graduating, student will be eligible for membership of Engineers Australia at the engineering officer level. Student will receive industry certification training for: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), CCNA Network Security, Wireless (CWNA), Comptia A+. RMIT will encourage student to sit for external examinations associated with these qualifications.
As a computer systems officer, Student wil be responsible for administering and upgrading networking facilities in small, medium or large organizations. Student will be able to apply skills to a wide range of business, manufacturing and operational occupations.
