This program prepares students for professional practice as a commercial designer. In this course students need to create work through practical training combined with theoretical knowledge, informed through social and environmental awareness, and guided by the industrial implications of the latest design practices. Students will also be equipped for a dynamic future in industries that value sustainability, innovative thinking and demand high professional standards. Majors (Studio majors) include Interior Design, Product Design, and Visual Communication Design. First year consists of a design and theory foundation, focusing on the development of ideas and problem-solving techniques. Students can choose to major in visual communication design, interior design or product design. This course gives the flexibility to choose a studio major within the program, an elective major, or specializations from other schools or faculties to broaden work experience, subject to approval by the Convener of Design.
