The Bachelor of Arts (Languages) honors year is both a preparation for postgraduate study and a capstone to an undergraduate degree. Honors can be the culmination of formal education, an experience that extends intellectual range, hones research abilities, as well as analytical and communication techniques, and helps students to develop the personal and professional skills needed to see a research project through completion. Honors can also be the first step on a path to a career as an academic or professional researcher. The honors year comprises seminar classes and work toward a short thesis on an independent research project under the supervision of an academic staff member who is an expert in the field of research.
Depends on subjects selected.However, a high level of English proficiency is expected. At HSC level, candidates should undertake the highest unit of English they can manage.
In this course the major studies include development of research abilities, as well as analytical and communication techniques, and helps you to develop the personal and professional skills needed to see a research project though to completion.
The program is available to students who have completed all requirements for the three-year bachelor degree with a relevant major at a high standard. A Bachelor of Arts (Honours) qualification denotes strong academic performance and provides the background required to pursue a range of postgraduate studies.
Sydney Arts students are encouraged to become members of professional associations concerned with their areas of study. Association membership for students is often heavily discounted and may provide: opportunities for networking; conferences on topical issues providing local and international perspectives, research on areas of practice, quality and innovation,interest groups in specific areas of industry, regular journals and other publications, access to current salary information based on surveys conducted by the association, advice on workplace agreements, events offering professional development and ongoing learning, scholarships, awards and prizes, further study (including short courses, professional accreditation programs, or postgraduate qualifications).
The Bachelor of Arts (Languages) includes a compulsory, subsidised in-country study component that enables students to spend one or more semesters studying at a designated university in the country of primary language.
