This program will prepare to work as a technical officer or technician specialising in telecommunication systems and communication networks. The students gain the knowledge and skills of telecommunication signalling principles, telecommunication networks operations concepts, design and optical communication. Students also develop the diagnostic skills associated with network cabling. The program covers: internet cloud, circuit and packet switching, copper and fibre cabling, customer premises equipment, broadband networks, network functional groups. This program is based on the nationally accredited Telecommunications Training Package (ICT10) and can be followed by the Diploma and then the Advanced Diploma of Telecommunications Network Engineering.

The studies also covers internet cloud, circuit and packet switching, copper and fibre cabling, customer premises equipment, broadband networks, network functional groups.
Applicants who do not have a Year 12 qualification or relevant work experience and/or employment in the telecommunications industry must undertake the VETASSESS test for literacy and numeracy.
Graduates can progress to the Diploma of Telecommunications Network Engineering and then the Advanced Diploma of Telecommunications Network Engineering.Graduates of the Advanced Diploma of Telecommunications Network Engineering may be eligible for exemptions if they gain a place in the Bachelor of Engineering (Computer and Network Engineering) program.
As a telecommunications technician, youll likely work in the operations departments of telecommunications carriers.The growing use of telecommunications infrastructure in large business enterprises means theres increasing work available in providing system administration and support interconnecting with public telecommunications infrastructure.Technicians are sometimes required to maintain complex telecommunications equipment, systems and facilities at a station, doing maintenance, testing, alignment, modification and operation of electronic equipment.
