If the student is interested to work in fashion or start own fashion business, this Associate Degree will unlock creative potential. This course also helps student to learn about design, patternmaking, quality and production control, specifications, technical development, computer-aided design (CAD) and logistics and even how to start own business. Design and technology will be the theme of studies. This program has been redeveloped for 2012 from the Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology to the new Associate Degree in Fashion Design and Technology.
Units 3 and 4—a study score of at least 25 in English (ESL) or at least 20 in any other English.
In this course the major studies include development of creative and technical skills while working closely with the fashion industry, blending theory with practice through a series of industry-driven projects and design, patternmaking, quality and production control is also studied.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 60%.For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page. Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
Associate Degree in Fashion Design and Technology is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award associates degrees and bachelors degrees. The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
The Associate Degree is designed to provide high-level skills in fashion design and expert skills in specialist patternmaking, managing design and product development.After several years experience, you can be working as a designer or product developer or hold other positions in management within international fashion businesses.Graduates gain employment with leading fashion organisations in Australia and overseas in the following areas:assistant designers, patternmakers and graders, quality assurance officers, production controllers, illustrators, small business operators.Some graduates have gone on to successfully establish their own fashion enterprises after several years of experience within the industry.
