This course provides a broad and practical approach to media studies, preparing students for work in the media, communications and multimedia industries. Students will also gain an understanding of the way media is evolving by examining issues such as ownership, control of the media and the impact of new media technologies on society. In addition to the media, students will also undertake a further major or minor(s) to complement their degree. The Media and Communication combination comprises a major in media and an additional minor in communications.

In this course the major studies include the studies related to media and communications and multimedia.Students will also gain an understanding of the way media is evolving by examining issues such as ownership, control of the media and the impact of new media technologies on society.
To qualify for admission to honours students need to have results at Credit (65%) level or above in eight senior units of study (48 credit points) in the subject in they wish to undertake honours. Some departments and programs have additional prerequisites, including advanced senior units of study designed to prepare students for the challenges of fourth year study.
After achieving this graduation the graduate can develop skills broadly in the processes of writing and revision, providing expertise and practical experience across a range of genres, styles and professional environments. In all writing and editing units, the emphasis is on publication or the achievement of professional standards.
Media and communication graduates are equipped with the conceptual and practical skills necessary to actively and creatively contribute to today's media world, and they are in high demand within both the media and multimedia industries and in the areas of web authoring, information architecture, electronic publications and news broadcasts, radio production, journalism, public relations, communications research and publishing.
