The Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) is a practice-based fine art program offering studies in 4 specialised areas: sculpture, sound and spatial practice, object based practice, print imaging, expanded studio practice. Studio practice is central to the program. Student will develop a range of practical, conceptual and technical skills to equip with the knowledge to work within the diverse industries and cultures associated with the fine arts.Studio courses are complemented by studies in the history and theory of art, as well as offering options for expanding study across multiple areas of theory and practice.
Current Year 12 prerequisite units 3 and 4—a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or at least 25 in any other English.
The major studies includes study of sculpture, sound , history and theory of arts .
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 70%. Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
The program is recognised by national and international funding and support organisations as a degree in fine art, including Arts Victoria and The Australia Council for the Arts.
Multi-skilled and capable of employment in a range of creative industries, graduates continue to make significant contributions to contemporary art and culture nationally and internationally. They exhibit in world-class local, national and international galleries, and hold senior positions in galleries and museums as well as national and international university academic and research positions. Graduates engage in artistic and cultural activities like:public art commissions, online and time-based art, production design, website design, photography, special effects art, video editing, festival curation, cultural diplomacy, sound recording, music arrangement, motion picture directing, commercial creative practices.
