This program is your entry point to develop your knowledge and skills in: visual communication, creative thinking, 2D and 3D design. Student will focus on investigating and developing design projects in a studio environment and develop an individual folio of creative work which can be applied for further study or for getting a job. During the year studies include media and drawing techniques, exploration of typography, 2D design and 3D techniques, experimentation with digital cameras, moving image and other technologies, contemporary design practice and industry awareness. This program can lead to further study in: graphic art and design, multimedia, product design and visual merchandising, interior design and decoration, advertising.

In this course the major studies include detailed concepts in visual communication, creative thinking, 2D and 3D design, practical knowledge of digital cameras.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 50%.For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page.Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary Diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.Applicants with work experience in this field will also be considered.
This program is a national qualification and is part of the CUV03 Visual Arts, Craft and Design Training Package developed by Industry Business Skills Australia.
The Certificate IV in Design prepares for further study in graphic or product design. If person is currently working in either field, this qualification will enhance professional prospects.
