This program will help you develop the latest skills, knowledge and techniques in product design. In this course students will learn traditional product development techniques, starting from a project brief, use the latest industry tools and practices to find solutions to design problems, become familiar with new consumer product development processes for a variety of products, resolving practical, manufacturing and sustainability/environmental issues. Our design projects will involve with local and international manufacturing companies. Recent students have designed prototypes that were manufactured in China and Malaysia .As a graduate, Students will be well placed for work in small or large design companies or as an independent designer. This course will help students to build a career out of your passion for good design.

The major studies include development of latest skills, knowledge and techniques in product design. Traditional product development techniques, starting from a project brief, use the latest industry tools and practices to find solutions to design problems is also studied in this course.
Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 or equivalent senior secondary school studies, or RMIT Foundation Studies program, or a recognised post secondary Diploma or Certificate in a relevant discipline. Applicants with work experience in this field will also be considered.
This program is recognised by the Design Institute of Australia.
Our graduates can specialise in diverse areas of product development, like: computer-aided design, product illustration, CAD drafter, product styling, home wares, model making, furniture and lighting, toy design, eco design, special effects for film and television, as a liaison between engineering and production. As a product designer, Student will work as part of a design or manufacturing team. Many designers also take on freelance work.
2 years full-time.International student visa holders can only study full-time.
