In this course students will develop core photographic skills and knowledge in the key areas of image capture (in studio and on location), digital manipulation, output and photo theory. The program emphasises industry knowledge, collaboration and professionalism. Student must successfully complete the Certificate IV in Photo Imaging before progressing to the Diploma of Photo Imaging.

In this course the major studies include development of core photographic skills and knowledge in the key areas of image capture (in studio and on location), digital manipulation, output and photo theory.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 50%.For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page.Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary Diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
Graduates may be granted membership to the Australian Institute of Professional Photography. This program is also recognised by various government departments and photographic businesses as an approved course of study.
Graduates find work as photographers, technologists or paraprofessionals in advertising, commercial, industrial, wedding and portrait photography and more. Many of our graduates also go on to establish and run successful, independent practices.
