This course helps graduates to start research project in any of the fine art areas of painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, gold and silvers mithing, drawing, fine art photography, sound, or media arts. This research program culminates in an externally examined assessment, usually in the format of a formal solo exhibition, performance or other appropriate public presentation, and an Appropriate Durable Record (ADR).

One of the following: Successful completion of an Australian Masters by Coursework degree or equivalent graded as a credit average (GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00), Successful completion of an Australian Graduate Diploma or equivalent with a credit average (GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00), Successful completion of an Australian Bachelor degree or equivalent with a credit average (GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00) or above in the final year of study or successful completion of an Australian Bachelor (Honours) degree or equivalent.Entry into a Research program at RMIT is not based solely on academic achievement and applicants must meet the following minimum academic requirements to be considered for candidature.
This course is accredited by ASIC (Accreditation Service for International Colleges) as a Premier Institution for its degree programs. Student passing this course from RMIT university holds various other accreditations from the Association of Business Executives (ABE) and the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers.
Graduates are employed by universities, galleries, museums, non-government organisations, and art organisations and companies. Our graduates also freelance as artists, writers, curators and producers.
