RMIT University

In this course student will be trained to Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) standards to gain the skills required for a Commercial Pilots Licence. Flight training is at Point Cook Airfield that provides a range of airspace terrain and environments to maximise variety in navigational experience. Also part of the program is the Air Transport Pilot Licence theory and electives including Instrument or Flight Instructor Ratings. The program provides a pathway to the Bachelor of Applied Science (Aviation).
VCE Units 3 and 4 Mathematics (any)
The major studies include the development of major skills required for for a Commercial Pilots Licence.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 50%.For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page.Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
After completing engineering degree, This program meets all the CASA requirements. All flying activities are conducted under RMIT Universitys CASA-approved Air Operator Certificate (AOC).
Student will graduate with a CASA Commercial Pilots Licence plus either Command Instrument rating (multi-engine) or Flight Instructor rating (single engine). Additional ratings or endorsements may be necessary for initial employment, therefore graduates should research and understand employment opportunities for newly graduated pilots. Graduate roles can involve relocating to areas for: charter, outback station flying, sightseeing flights, seasonal fire spotting, seasonal beach patrols , instructing (with an Instructor Rating).With further experience student may find work in multi-engine charter operations flying high-performance aircraft, regional airlines or high-performance general aviation activities such as The Flying Doctor or Coast Watch services and in the role of First Officer in major airlines. With significant experience and managerial qualifications student will be able to seek positions within major airlines as a:Chief Pilot, Fleet Manager , Flight Operations Manager, Flight Operations Inspector.
